How Will I Be Strong?
October 23, 2007
Today the hubs and I are going to the photographers house to pick out an album. We weren’t originally going to get an album but our photographer made us a deal: She would give us a $500 album credit if we didn’t make her print out 1500 4×6’s like was in our contract. Since we have no idea where we would store all these pictures, we took the credit.
Today we go over to look at our options. I’ve already reviewed the types of albums she has and I’ve narrowed it down to two. There the financially responsible one that only costs $600 ($100 after the credit) and contains 50 pictures and is just fine OR there is the $1100 one that contains 100 pictures. Truth be told, I have no idea how I’d narrow all the pictures down to 100 let alone 50. Will my wedding lust never end? Will I be strong and not spend $600 that I can’t afford? Stay tuned to see.
…and because I can, here are a few pictures from the ones she took.

Where To Find 20%
October 19, 2007
Recently I’ve been reading up on buying a home. Most books I’ve read, people I’ve talked to, and things I’ve seen say that you really should have 20% down to buy a home. (I know there are ways around this but this seems to be the norm).
Where I live, a pretty cheap condo will start at $350,000 without any extras. That means 20% down would be $70,000. *hits the floor with head*
Do people really come up with this kind of money? I mean, even if I was able to save $1700/month (which I can’t right now) it would take me 3.5 years to save $70,000! I’m wondering if most people just started saving for this really early or how everyone went about buying their first home.
I know that ALL of my friends who have houses had their parents help them. Unfortunately, we don’t have that luxury.
Any ideas on how to go about this?
Raining…not pouring..
October 15, 2007
It’s dreary out today and I love it. L.A. is the absence of weather so anytime it’s something other than 80 degrees and sunny it’s fun!
It sprinkled (and by sprinkled I mean a few very tiny drops) this morning and of course the weathermen are already going crazy. “It’s pouring out there!” is their phrase of choice. They get so excited when there’s actually something to report I’d just hate to break their spirits by letting them know that it’s not actually pouring.
The only downside to rain in L.A. is that driving gets really scary! Because it only rains about 3 days a year, the rest of the time the roads fill up with oil. So when it finally does rain, the roads are super slippery and cars crash into each other all over the place.
Because of this, I think that I should get off from work today. I mean really, do they want me to have to drive home from the office when it’s so dangerous? No, of course not, they wouldn’t want that liability. So, if my boss comes out and sends me home I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and do what he says :p
I’m back and it was great!
October 8, 2007
Yeah, what more can I say about my wedding/honeymoon. The wedding was amazing! The honeymoon was very hard to come back from. We had such a great time! I don’t want to bore you with the details so I’ll give you a quick picture.
But I WILL tell you one hilarious story:
My videographer was going around having everyone say something into the video for us. My Grandmother (who speaks mostly French and not much English) said “I wish for you many boner.” Ummm…yeah, thanks Grandma! (Boner in French is happiness I guess, she got confused.)
Then the camera got to my Dad. I guess he was confused about what he was supposed to say because instead of wishing us well, etc. he just introduced himself. “Robert, father of the bride.” Haha, as if we were compiling a list of who our guests were. Too funny.
I’m happy to be back (who am I kidding?! No I’m not!) and hope you’re happy to have me back.
